Dr Sarah Morris Clinical Psychologist

Dr Sarah Morris

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I currently work both within the NHS and privately.

I deeply believe that in all of us there is the capacity to grow, to heal and to become more fully who we want to be. In my work I seek to facilitate this by providing a safe space to talk and to help you feel less alone in exploring whatever you are currently facing, whether life-altering challenges, day-to-day difficulties, or just feeling that your life isn’t quite how you’d like it to be.

I work with people with a wide range of mental health challenges, including low mood, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, adjustment to physical health problems or life changes, chronic fatigue, and low self-esteem. However, my work is not oriented around diagnostic labels. Instead, I seek to develop a shared and holistic understanding of your situation, where we draw connections between your previous experiences and current challenges. Working in this way allows us to explore together the way forward for you.

I have a particular interest in working with people around life transitions and identity, such as during faith deconstruction or changes in life, work or relationship circumstances. I also have a particular interest in working with therapy professionals and trainees within these professions (e.g. psychologists, counsellors).

Each person’s needs and wishes differ. As such, I work integratively, drawing on a number of therapeutic approaches including Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I am influenced by trauma-informed, de-pathologising, and feminist approaches to mental health. I work affirmatively with LGBTQ+ individuals.

Our first session would be a chance for us to speak about your current circumstances, your goals for therapy and the way that I work. You can then decide if you wish to arrange further appointments. I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, with regular reviews to ensure our sessions continue to be useful.

I am able to offer individual therapy appointments to adults over Zoom and outside of typical working hours.

As well as my work, I enjoy going for walks in the forest with my dog, playing board games with family and friends, and an ever-expanding pool of creative hobbies, from sewing to crochet to making jewellery.
