Dr Oona Clinical Psychologist

Dr Oona McEwan

I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Psychological Society (BPS). I currently work privately and in an Adult London NHS Secondary Care Service. I can offer both English and French speaking therapy sessions.

Whether you are having momentary difficulties or are facing long-standing challenges, starting therapy can feel daunting. My approach focuses on creating a safe and supportive space to explore a range of difficulties including low mood, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, attachment, eating and sleeping difficulties, as well as addictions and challenges within relationships. Other interests and specialities include racial and intergenerational trauma, difficulties associated with becoming and being a parent, working with athletes, as well as working/studying related challenges. Whatever the issue, this will be a space to explore, reflect, and move towards healing and growth.

I work in an integrative manner within a range of modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy and Compassion-Focussed Therapy. Over the first few sessions, we will explore which approaches are best suited to your needs and aim to create a shared holistic understanding of your experiences. We will then work together to identify patterns and changes that you want to make.

I work affirmatively with those who have experienced discrimination (i.e. those who identify as LGBTQ+, have been racially targeted, have experienced gender-based aggression and other forms of prejudice). I am located in Waltham Forest, London and I am currently offering online sessions.
