I completely understand your concern about the crowds during summer in Spain. I visited in late spring, around May, and it was an ideal time for me. The weather was absolutely perfect—not too hot, but warm enough to enjoy the beaches, and the crowds were much more manageable compared to the summer months. If you're not specifically aiming for a beach holiday, I'd recommend visiting in early autumn (September or early October). The weather is still great, but the major tourist spots like Barcelona and Madrid aren’t overrun by tourists. Plus, the local festivals, such as La Mercè in Barcelona or the grape harvest in the wine regions, offer a great cultural experience without the high season crowds. I found this amazing resource that provides helpful travel tips and hidden gems about Spain, including when to visit for the best weather and fewer tourists: https://travelspain.uk/. You can find tons of recommendations about when and where to go based on your preferences!

Spain is always a great holiday destination with so much to offer! Whether you enjoy cultural experiences, beautiful beaches, or amazing food, there’s something for everyone. I’ve been a couple of times, and I think the best time to visit really depends on your priorities. For quieter spots and great weather, late spring and early autumn are ideal, but the summer can be great if you enjoy a lively atmosphere. It’s all about balancing the weather with the crowds.
